Quest Global, a refrigerated truckload carrier based in Atlanta, has chosen TransCore’s GlobalWave trailer tracking system and will deploy over 250 Sense & Track units across its fleet.
TransCore’s Sense & Track mobile terminal is part of GlobalWave’s range of compact satellite communication devices. The unit uses a two-way protocol to send reports and receive commands. It can be polled all over North America.
The Sense & Track units make use of a third generation
GlobalWave satellite modem, which offers rapid GPS fixes with an accuracy of 35 feet or better. The modem can also offer location information in less than a minute – one of the fastest response times in the industry.
Quest Global leverages the Sense & Track mobile terminals to enhance operations by tracking trailer location and constantly monitoring the temperature levels of sensitive cargo. The Sense & Track terminal offers instant alert notifications whenever the temperature exceeds customer-defined thresholds. It also offers historical location and temperature data. With this solution, Quest Global customers can login to access their orders, check shipment status, and track them with ease.
The Sense & Track terminal offers complete sensor suite capability, thus enabling users to view loaded/empty status and access data, such as load temperature and tire inflation, from other monitored systems. Cargo and door sensors offer instant alert notification in case trailer doors are opened or closed. The information also includes empty/full load status. This prevents theft and increases the security for both the load and trailer.
The GlobalWave network has three ground control stations offering service to five continents. It supports customers across the world, including over 600 commercial fleets throughout North America and the U.S. Department of Defense. The network also supports TransCore’s 3sixty fleet management services.
Last year, TransCore’s trailer tracking and communications unit had exceeded 150,000 satellite communications transceivers globally.
