Aruba Networks ( News - Alert) Inc., a provider of wireless LANs and secure unified mobility solutions, has introduced a new series of high-performance, explosion-resistant access points designed for industrial and outdoor applications.
Aruba has designed the new AP-85 Dual-Radio Outdoor Access Point ( News - Alert) family with radio, packaging and operational features intended for petrochemical, material handling, shop floor, logistics and SCADA applications. It assures that the access points are strong, simple to install and include features designed for reducing operating and capital expenditures.
The access points come with dual, high-power radios delivering up to 200mW (23dBm) for broad area coverage, with a weatherproof encloser and ATEX Zone 2 safety rating for operation in explosion hazardous environments and across temperatures from -30 to +55 degrees Centigrade without additional cost-housings.
Aruba offers10/100BaseT or single/multimode fibre optic data interfaces, with wire connections suited to retrofit applications and fibre optic data interfaces to hazardous environments. It claimed the AP-85 access points can operate in a secure, resilient, self-healing mesh when data cabling is too expensive to install, with a solar power option for completely wire-free operation.
