Aptilo Networks Acquires Airpath Wireless

By Niladri Sekhar Nath, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Aptilo Networks, developer of integrated solutions for Service Management and Access Control for wireless networks, is set to acquire Airpath Wireless, Inc., provider of hosted solutions for network operators, service providers and systems integrators.

The acquisition is expected to enhance Aptilo's presence and revenue in the U.S. Thus the company will eventually become a leading provider of integrated solutions for WiMAX (News - Alert), metro WiFi and WiFi (News - Alert) hotspot installations worldwide.

The acquisition will also reinforce Aptilo's existing software license and managed service offerings with the addition of Airpath's managed service solutions.

The opportunity for integrated broadband wireless solutions is incredible. Experts feel that Wi-Fi/WiMAX market will experience significant growth, fueled by an increasing number of devices with built-in Wi-Fi/WiMAX technology. This will surely attract many new types of users and new services.

“In this market, it is essential to continue to build on economy of scale and Aptilo's proven stability, and our already established profitability. This is key for our customers and business partners," explained Torbjorn Ward, Chief Executive Officer, Aptilo Networks. "This acquisition strengthens Aptilo's proven, feature-rich managed service offerings in North America, positioning us well to lead the market with unique solutions, unparalleled functionality and exceptional service."

Under the agreement, Aptilo and Airpath will combine their operations, staff and customer base. Aptilo will be emphasizing on the strengths and functionalities of both companies to enhance the product/service offerings delivered through a platform with proven stability and carrier-grade service level.

"After a thorough process of exploring all of the players in the market we have determined that Aptilo Networks was by far the strongest international player -- with a solid U.S. presence as well as extensive installations
worldwide -- with the most feature-rich and flexible platforms," said Richard D. Lane, Chief Executive Officer, Airpath Wireless. "Aptilo has a formidable presence in the market, as their resources and product and service offerings are unmatched. We are delighted to be a part of the Aptilo family."
