Wi-Fi TV and Streamstar to Deliver Next Generation of Live Interactive TV on the Internet

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Wi-Fi TV Inc. and Streamstar have signed a joint venture agreement to deliver the next generation of live interactive TV on the Internet.

Streamstar is a joint venture between White Springs Media and Consolidated Streaming.

White Springs Media offers content and delivery to radio stations across the country via a satellite uplink, or teleport. The company's target market is the 4,000 small to medium-size stations.

Consolidated Streaming, Inc. is a diversified digital and web technology provider focused on delivering digital media via web streaming, satellite, downloadable, cable, radio, and mobile devices.

Streamstar has already provided satellite-to-Internet feeds for six events including Wi-Fi TV-New Years Eve from Times Square 2006; Tarver-Jones pre-fight events in conjunction with HBO; New Years Eve 2008; Chicago Marathon; Peace event live from Israel and NCAA Basketball programming.

As per the pact, Streamstar will provide Wi-Fi TV satellite-to-Internet streaming content for special events including Sports, Entertainment, Education, News, Politics, Religious programming, Children programming, International feeds, and much more.

Streamstar will also provide TV and Radio uplink distribution capabilities for Wi-Fi TV channels in over 75 markets in North America as well as in Asia.

The parties will share revenue from these ventures.

"One of the big draws will be that the feeds Streamstar will be providing Wi-Fi TV are uncut! This can be very exciting and telling during political events and interviews, for example, since the cameras are always transmitting, you will often get to see political candidates in more candid moments, during makeup breaks, discussing strategies with handlers, and such. And these feeds are not limited to political candidates and sports feeds, of course; anything that features the tag 'Live!' next to it will be seen on Wi-Fi TV's satellite channel, uncut," Keith Friedman, President of Consolidated Streaming said in a press release.
