Red Bend Software has announced that its vCurrent Mobile FOTA software will be adopted for the RZ-H200R Industrial Handheld Terminals of Sharp Corporation.
vCurrent Mobile enables mobile phone manufacturers and operators to deploy and install firmware updates over the air. The patented software identifies the changes from an existing version of firmware to a new, updated version. vCurrent Mobile is said to benefit mobile phone and M2M manufacturers, operators, and consumers with new innovations in over-the-air software updating.
Red Bend officials state that the company has already enjoyed a series of successes in Japanese mobile phone market, and has implemented new initiatives to open Machine to Machine (M2M) market, and adoption for use of in Sharp’s Industrial Hand Held Terminals is the first step towards the implemented initiatives. According to the company Sharp is the first Japanese manufacturer to adopt Red Bend's FOTA solution for M2M devices.
Kazuhiro Abe, president at Red Bend Software Japan, said in a statement, “M2M is a strategic market for Red Bend. We intend to leverage the adoption by Sharp as an opportunity to further expand our position in the domestic industrial handheld terminal market as well as other M2M applications.”
He explained that the Sharp RZ-H200R Industrial Handheld Terminals are portable units that improve order management and information sharing in the fast-paced, demanding restaurant business, and Red Bend's vCurrent Mobile makes it possible to quickly update software that is included in the handheld terminals by using wireless communication.
Abe pointed out that the conventional method of returning terminals to the vendor and performing maintenance on each unit is no longer necessary for industrial handheld terminals that are equipped with Red Bend's software, which makes a large contribution to the efficiency of retail operations.

Alert) Technology Fast 500 EMEA, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The rankings are based on percentage revenue growth during the past five years, from 2002-2006. Red Bend grew 14,347 percent during this period.
Red Bend Software CEO Yoram Salinger credits its substantial revenue growth to the global adoption of the company's mobile software management solutions. He said in a statement “Consumers are increasingly demanding greater sophistication from their mobile experience.”
Recently, Red Bend was also named a Finalist in the GSM
Association's Mobile Innovation Awards for the Most Innovative Wireless Device-Centric Technology.
