Alert) USA has partnered with United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and has launched the T-Mobile Huddle Up Scholarship Program to help increase access to higher education for talented, low-income high school seniors from single-parent or non-traditional households in Washington state.
T-Mobile officials informed that through the T-Mobile Huddle Up Scholarship Program, their company will provide up to ten qualifying students with scholarships to attend accredited four-year colleges or universities, and scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded annually for up to four years.
Officials pointed out the new scholarship program is part of T-Mobile's company-wide community outreach program, T-Mobile Huddle Up, which connects kids, primarily from single-parent, high-need urban communities to people, places and programs.
“We are proud to support the educational development and career aspirations of Washington State high school students through the T-Mobile Huddle Up scholarship Program,” Glenn Zaccara, head of corporate responsibility at T-Mobile, said in a press statement.
Zaccara also believed that his company’s partnership with UNCF will offer a wealth of higher education opportunities for students to explore, “as they connect with positive academic role models and develop leadership skills for future success.”
Michael L.Lomax, President and CEO at UNCF, welcoming the partnership with T-Mobile USA, said, “The students will get their college degrees thanks to these T-Mobile Huddle Up Scholarships and these students will be the engineers, business leaders and economists of tomorrow. We are grateful to T-Mobile for its leadership and for investing in the future of higher education.”
Lomax informed that applicants for the T-Mobile Huddle Up Scholarship Program must meet a set of eligibility criteria, which includes, high school senior from a single-parent or non traditional household who resides in Washington state; students must enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college or university; students must have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; and students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The applicants can apply for the scholarship till December 31, 2007
