Alert) Corporation has announced that NEC France SAS, an affiliate of NEC Europe Ltd., has signed a frame contract with the French mobile carrier, Bouygues Telecom, to provide technical services, Base Station Optimization, for its high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA
) network.
The company explains that Base Station Optimization refers to the maximization of service areas covered by individual RF base stations and the communication quality—network access, system handovers, and others—in those areas. According to NEC, this kind of optimization will allow Bouygues Telecom to offer high-quality services and significantly improve the quality of mobile phone usage environments for end users.
NEC’s officials pointed out that their company’s 3G
base station optimization solutions offer a variety of benefits based on NEC'S original radio wave propagation environment simulation tools and extensive know-how and experience for both indoor and outdoor quality of service (QoS
) optimization. Officials added that leveraging these solutions, their company can optimize networks supplied by any manufacturer.
The third largest mobile operator in France, Bouygues Telecom, according to reports, has launched 3G mobile services on its new high-speed mobile internet network, three years after its competitors launched similar services.
The 3G mobile services will be available in 11 French cities covering 20 percent of the French population. The report stated that Bouygues aims to cover 70 percent of the population with the new network by the end of 2009. The service allows data to be downloaded to users' handsets from the internet at a rate of 6.7 megabytes per second
