CSR (News - Alert) has announced the launch of RadioPro, a WiFi Internet radio example design based on the company's UniFi single-chip WiFi (News - Alert) technology.

 

RadioPro can support over 10,000 radio stations through a dedicated internet radio portal and provides wireless streaming of internet radio via WiFi, without the need for a PC.

 

 RadioPro comes with the advantage of being software upgradeable and with a bill of materials (BOM) of less than $15, it is the lowest cost internet radio solution available today.  

 

RadioPro is available free of charge and features all the required hardware design information and software to stream live internet radio stations. You can fully customize the user interface and menus through a dedicated Software Development Kit (SDK).

 

Through a WiFi access point, RadioPro uses CSR's UniFi-1 chip to connect to a dedicated Internet radio portal. Once a station is selected, RadioPro provides smooth, reliable and high-quality streamed audio with its upgradeable software. It also allows end users to update their products directly as new capabilities are made available "over-the-air".

 

Tracy Hopkins, Vice President of CSR's Consumer Business Unit commented in a company press release, “The market forecast for internet radio products is set to increase significantly within the next two years.
