Alert) USA, Inc. has agreed to join hands with “One Laptop per Child”, a campaign under which laptop computers are donated to children studying in developing countries.
In a statement issued on Friday, Joe Sims, vice president (Broadband Services) T-Mobile USA, said, “We are excited and proud to partner with One Laptop per Child, and are hopeful that our contribution will not only encourage other people to participate, but also make a positive difference”.
One Laptop per Child is a non-profit organization that came into being to promote computer usage in the developing world.
T-Mobile’s campaign is known as Give-One-Get-One, under which people can donate $399 for two laptops. One laptop will be given to a child in the developing world and the other laptop will be sent to the donor along with information on how to activate the one year of complimentary T-Mobile HotSpot service.
This offer is limited for a period between Nov. 12 and Nov. 26, 2007.
T-Mobile HotSpot service provides Wi-Fi
Internet access at nearly 8,500 public T-Mobile HotSpots installed at Starbucks coffee shops, Borders bookstores, Hyatt Hotels, Amtrak stations and more than 70 major airports across the United States.
