Boingo Wireless has filed papers to hold an IPO as it continues to expand globally.
The number of shares and prices they will be sold for were not included in the Initial Public Offering paperwork submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the company’s website.
Boingo (News - Alert) Wireless reported net income of $5.7 million for the nine months ending Sept. 30, 2010. This contrasts with a loss of $145,000 for the same period during the previous year, according to a report from MarketWatch.
Company revenues increased almost 29 percent, totaling some $59 million, in that nine-month period, said MarketWatch.
Credit Suisse Securities and Deutsche Bank Securities will be book-runners for the IPO, according to a Boingo press release. Pacific Crest Securities and William Blair & Company will be co-managers for the IPO, the company press release adds.
Boingo Wireless is a provider of mobile WiFi (News - Alert) Internet solutions for commercial uses. It is made up of more than 211,000 Wi-Fi locations in more than 100 countries, which can be found at airports, hotels, coffee shops, shopping malls, arenas, stadiums, fast-food restaurants, as well as other locations, according to information on the Boingo website.
TMCnet reported recently that a collaboration between Boingo Wireless (News - Alert) and South Korean telephony carrier, KT, gave Boingo customers access to at least 36,000 new WiFi hotspots throughout South Korea.
In a related matter, TMCnet also reported that Boingo Wireless reached an agreement with China Telecommunications Corporation (News - Alert) to allow access to its customers for WiFi hotspots in most locations across China.
As of November, Boingo was available in 103 countries. Among these were hotspots in 26 countries in the Asia Pacific region such as: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, according to TMCnet.
