Wi-LAN Inc., has signed a definitive license agreement with Fujitsu Limited based on the terms agreed upon between the two July 25, 2007.
Wi-LAN Inc. is a company which was a pioneer in the design, development and distribution of broadband wireless technologies and as off late has completely shifted its focus on licensing its intellectual property. Wi-LAN has a portfolio of over 220 patents covering technologies which include CDMA, DOCSIS, DSL, V-chip, Wi-Fi and WiMAX .
Fujitsu offers customer-focused information technology and communications solutions creating value for customers.
As per the license agreement, Fujitsu will receive a license to the entire Wi-LAN patent portfolio. This entitles approximately forty communications patents to be transferred to Wi-LAN.
Wi-LAN is also in various stages of licensing discussions and negotiations with a number of parties.
The V-chip patent is the latest acquisition of TVL which allows the user of multimedia devices to filter out those programs that are considered inappropriate for their children to watch.
