SMC Networks ( News - Alert) has launched its new SMC Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router (SMCWBR14-N2), an all-in-one networking solution for connecting and sharing high speed cable/xDSL Internet connections.
According to SMC, ‘Works with Windows Vista’ and ‘Wi-Fi CERTIFIED’ for interoperability, compatibility is assured with the new SMCWBR14-N2 Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router. The solution combines a high speed Wireless-N access point, 4-port 10/100 switch, firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), intelligent stream handling technology and a user friendly Web-based management interface all in one convenient device. As a result it provides the high speed, coverage and bandwidth benefits of 802.11n in a platform independent, multi-functional router.
Designed for both home and office use, the unit has built in 802.11n-draft wireless access point is capable of data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps, which the company points out is almost six-times the rate of 802.11g, and extended coverage, while maintaining compatibility with legacy 802.11 b/g equipment that’s assured by Wi-Fi certification.
SMC Networks explains that the new Broadband Router excels with demanding applications like online gaming, high-definition video streaming , file sharing and VoIP—even at managing multiple of these high-demand applications simultaneously. The SMCWBR14-N2 Barricade N Draft 11n Broadband Router incorporates intelligent stream handling technology, and automatically manages and prioritizes the flow of traffic in wireless or wired local area networks (LAN ) as well as going to the Internet, without requiring user configuration.
Barricade N supports the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption standards for secure wireless networking in order to prevent unauthorized access to wireless networks and ensure that data is secure. A Wi-Fi Protected Setup allows push button or PIN-configuration for easy Wireless security setup.
