Wireless Matrix Corporation announced Tuesday that Stratos (

Alert) Global Corp., has purchased 600 Satellite Data Terminal (SDT) 5000 satellite communication units.
The Satellite Data Terminal (SDT) 5000 satellite communication units support customer orders received by Stratos, a Wireless Matrix service partner, and are expected to ship by December, 2007.
J. Richard Carlson, president & CEO of Wireless Matrix said that their partnership with Stratos continues to extend their capabilities for remote communications and monitoring services to critical infrastructure operators. Carlson believes this order demonstrates the ongoing value real-time monitoring provides the markets Stratos serves, and the continued success of their partnership with Stratos.
Stratos has reportedly deployed over 6,000 Wireless Matrix fixed site satellite units to customers requiring remote monitoring of remote assets such as telecommunications towers.
Wireless Matrix was recently the company announced they would deploy its web-based FleetOutlook solution and associated Vehicle Telematics Communication Units (VTCU) in 450 natural gas utility service vehicles. In addition to providing the customer real-time location, FleetOutlook will provide the tracking data for monitoring fleet activity.
This contract expands Wireless Matrix’s existing network services relationship with the customer, a provider of natural gas service for business and residences, as well as gas distribution, storage and transportation in Canada. FleetOutlook will increase technician productivity and reduce fuel expenses within the company’s service fleet.
