Alert), a provider of telecommunications equipment and related services to mobile and fixed network operators worldwide is hitting the headlines with yet another announcement, this time striking a deal with Uruguayan mobile operator Movistar, of Spain's Telefonica, to offer its 3G
network.
The deal specifies Ericsson to be the sole supplier and network integrator for Movistar's new WCDMA/HSPA core and radio network.
"This deal marks a new era of communications and 3G services in Uruguay, and positions us for further evolution of our offerings. Ericsson's support will allow us to offer top-quality multimedia services to our customers," commented Movistar CEO Pablo de Salterain in a statement.
Rafael Sancristóbal, vice president, Ericsson in South Latin America, says: "Ericsson and Movistar Uruguay have a long history of successful cooperation in delivering innovative mobile services. With third-generation networks, Movistar's customers will benefit from a range of innovative multimedia services."
Ericsson’s expertise in such network expansion program has proven to be highly successful in terms of quality and performance. The advanced technology enables the operators to enjoy more capacity and to offer advanced new services at a much reduced time limit and more efficiently.
Ericsson has also supplied 3G networks for Chile's Entel PCS, which launched mobile broadband services in December 2006.
