A part of JSC SITRONICS’ ( News - Alert) INTRACOM TELECOM subsidiary, INTRACOM MIDDLE EAST, is deploying the WiMAX network for ZAIN Bahrain, one of the leading telecommunication operators in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The company expects the US$ 10.2 million project to be completed by the end of this month.
Utilizing WiMAX access technology, INTRACOM MIDDLE EAST deploys a turnkey ISP network in order to provide mobile, fixed and nomadic voice and data services over the air. The company believes that this state-of-the-art broadband solution will complement the traditional wireline infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain by providing access to wireless high-speed internet and voice services.
The ZAIN Bahrain project reportedly deploys technologies provided by Cisco Systems for the ISP network and Redline Communications ( News - Alert) for WiMAX access. ZAIN’s support systems will be used by INTRACOM MIDDLE EAST to provide WiMAX services.
Alexandros Manos, managing director of INTRACOM TELECOM said that their company has been involved in the evolution of WiMAX ( News - Alert) since its very first steps. Over the last few years, they have been investing both in developing of technical expertise and their service delivery capability in the region to be able to play a leading role in the deployment of the WiMAX technology and its full integration with the current and Next Generation Networks.
“The launch of ZAIN’s new wireless high-speed broadband internet is the next logical step in our service offering to the Kingdom, as Bahrain has always been the regional pioneer in the telecommunication services arena,” said Dr. Ahmed Al Shatti, COO of ZAIN Bahrain in a statement.
