Spreadtrum Communications (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Spreadtrum Communications, Inc., a wireless baseband chipset provider in China, has signed a TD-SCDMA strategic partnership agreement with Zhongxing Telecommunication-Equipment Enterprise (ZTE ( News - Alert)).
Both Spreadtrum and ZTE hope that the collaboration will accelerate the development of TD-SCDMA products and the commercialization of TD-SCDMA technology.
Spreadtrum and ZTE have decided to join forces because both the companies share a common vision to further develop TD-SCDMA technology and the industry and have also agreed to cooperate on numerous projects designed to improve the functionality of the TD-SCDMA system and terminals as well as introduce additional TD-SCDMA commercial products.
Spreadtrum Communications, Inc. designs and develops baseband processor solutions for the mobile wireless communications market. Spreadtrum combines its semiconductor design expertise with its software development capabilities to deliver highly- integrated baseband processors with multimedia functionality and
power management.
