By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor
According to a study published by mobile web browser software provider Opera, the Germany-based Peperoni Software GmbH is leading the mobile social networking space. With more than four million user created pages, ad-funded platform peperonity.com is indisputably among the leaders in mobile social networking. Founded in 2001, Peperoni Mobile & Internet Software (News - Alert) GmbH is the innovator of the "mobile site building" technology.
India and South Africa are booming markets for social networking. Here peperonity.com has landed the fourth position of all visited WAP sites. With over 340 million page impressions and about 10 million unique visitors per month, peperonity.com has clearly outdone both new and long-standing rivals in the mobile web space.
More than 770,000 users have designed more than four million individual sites using the Peperoni’s content generation platform (mobile web 2.0). All of these sites are white labeled for national and international network operators like T-Mobile (News - Alert), o2, KPN or WIND, in addition to carrying the peperonity brand.
It takes users only five steps to create their personal WAP sites on peperonity.com, which they can embellish with pictures, texts, videos and animated gif's. They have users’ features like chats, blogs or discussion boards which can also be integrated into user WAP sites. In-house moderators monitor all the content, so that no inappropriate content can be posted. peperonity.com can be accessed from any mobile device with an internet connection. The system supports eight languages: German, English, Portuguese, Russian, Greek, Polish, French and Italian.
