snom klarVOICE Delivers Next Gen VoIP Sound
snom technology AG (News - Alert) announced the next generation of voice: snom klarVOICE. This wideband handset, which can be adapted to all snom VoIP telephones, is designed to capture more than twice the spectrum of voice frequencies than standard phones enabling phone conversations with greater clarity and richness. The new handset works with the G.722 codec, and can be adapted to any existing snom 3xx series VoIP phone (snom 300, 320, 360, 370) using snom’s latest firmware release (Version7.1.33).
Techlogix, Forum Systems to Bring SOA Gateway (News - Alert) to UAE
Techlogix announced today that it’s partnered with Forum Systems, Inc., to bring SOA (service oriented architecture) products to markets in the United Arab Emirates and Asia-Pacific, specifically Forum’s Sentry solution. Under the agreement, Forum Sentry users across Asia-Pacific and United Arab Emirates will now get installation and architecture consulting services from Techlogix.
Report: IP Adoption Driving European Business Telephony, VoIP
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan says that IP adoption is growing in the European market. As more and more companies migrate to IP PBX (News - Alert), they are increasingly taking action to expand deployment in such categories as IP desk phones, softphones, SIP phones and wireless IP phones.

“The overall growth rate in the endpoint market is above that of the European GDP growth,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Dorota Oviedo. “This is attributed to the low penetration of IP phones in a relatively significant IP PBX installed base, the growing attractiveness of softphone as a complementary client and the increase in demand for enterprise mobility solutions.”

Citrix Online (News - Alert) has released the latest versions of Citrix GoToMeeting and Citrix GoToWebinar. Both these products are designed to make it easier for SMBs to conduct online meetings from any location. Along with featuring free unlimited VoIP and audio conferencing, GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar also feature new capabilities designed specifically for Mac users, and Webinar planning and management tools.
Polycom (News - Alert) Expands IP Phone Line
Polycom recently announced its SoundPoint IP 670, an application-enabled desktop SIP phone with a high-performance color display, HD Voice technology, and Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) connectivity. The SoundPoint IP 670 supports six lines and includes advanced SIP features and capabilities, such as support for shared lines, text messaging, and buddy presence monitoring. The phone also includes an integrated XHTML micro-browser that enables users to take advantage of productivity-enhancing Web-based applications and also provides the ideal platform for Polycom’s recently announced Polycom Productivity Suite for SoundPoint IP phones.
TalkSwitch (News - Alert) Upgrades VoIP Offering
TalkSwitch announced the release of TalkSwitch management software version 6.10, a free upgraded version equipped with new call handling features, making TalkSwitch systems more customizable. In addition, this newest version is designed to simplify the installation of IP phones and also adds new diagnostic tools. A firewall test can be conducted to ensure the network is optimized for VoIP calling. The new software allows for up to 100 system-wide speed dials and users have the ability to set call handling rules based on the incoming caller ID.



BT (News - Alert) Picks Cisco Aggregation Services Routers for Next-Gen Managed Services
BT Global Services is all set to deploy the new Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. According to BT officials, the Cisco (News - Alert) ASR 1000 supports multiple services such as high-speed firewall, security and flexible packet matching on the platform in hardware. BT Global Services has been engaged in ASR testing early in the product lifecycle. The company is satisfied with the test results so far and by the potential of the ASR1000 for delivering next-generation services.
FreedomVOICE Systems Adds Call Review
FreedomVOICE Systems, a provider of virtual office solutions, has announced that it has added Call Review to its VoIP Hosted PBX service, FreedomIQ. Call Review is designed to be a powerful tool for implementing employee training and ensuring quality control. Call Review was designed to make information retrieval as convenient as possible. Every call received is displayed on a table in a user friendly Web interface. The call data is easily storable by employee name, incoming number, time of day, extension and other criteria. Call Review can also be used by supervisors for employee training. The solution also provides an audio record of what was said. This may offer protection in instances of legal disputes.
ECI Telecom (News - Alert) Launches New GPON OLT Solution
ECI Telecom has unveiled their high-bandwidth gigabit passive optical network (GPON) optical line termination (OLT) with a built-in network processor. Based on 800 Gbps of switching capacity, the new GPON OLT solution offers two new platforms, F152 and F61, which significantly enhance ECI’s OLT product offerings based on the Hi-FOCuS Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) family. A part of ECI’s 1Net business framework solution, the upgraded Hi-FOCuS MSAN OLT provides operators with unique service-enabling intelligence as they transition their networks towards NGN.
NGT Starts Taking Orders for Microsoft Response Point-compatible VoIP Solution
New Global Telecom (News - Alert) (NGT) announced that it has started accepting customer orders for NGT Digital Voice for Microsoft Response Point. NGT claims to be the first certified Microsoft (News - Alert) recommended service provider to offer industry-standard SIP (session initiation protocol) phone services that works seamlessly with Response Point. Microsoft has now brought to the market the Response Point Service Pack 1 (SP1) and NGT is taking orders from its Digital Voice Authorized Partners.
HyperPipe for Cost Effective Wideband Services
NetEx recently launched its HyperPipe technology, which is designed to provide wideband services over current broadband IP (Internet protocol) networks to ISPs (Internet Service Providers) as well as phone and cable providers. NetEx’s bandwidth optimization software aims to boost the output of any IP network. Adding this technology is designed to help increase the transport of video and data services by over 100 Mbps.

Natural Convergence (News - Alert) to Target Carriers
Natural Convergence a supplier of a hosted VoIP application, previously emphasized channel partners for distribution of its product. Now the company is taking straight aim at the carrier market as its primary distribution focus. In preparation for that move the company has changed its sales force by adding executives with carrier sales experience, including Pat Smith, new CEO and Bill Crank, president. Crank notes that Natural Convergence already has a “couple of large Tier One partners, one large cable partner and a U.S. ILEC.” He also sees “a great opportunity to extend partnerships with five or six new carriers.” That suggests carriers now believe the hosted VoIP market is ripe for attack.
Verizon (News - Alert) Business Powers Thing5 SaaS
Under an agreement with Verizon Business, Thing5 said that it is providing its hosted platform through a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) model to approximately 1,300 hotels, covering more than 275,000 phones. Thing5 explained that applications are delivered as managed IP services over the Web, which helps to control setup and operational costs, and customers pay for the computing resources utilized. Verizon Business (News - Alert) is providing the IP trunking that connects hotel properties to Thing5 data centers. The newly available Verizon Business service, Burstable Enterprise Shared Trunks, enables on-demand sharing of under-utilized trunk capacity.



Sony Ericsson, Handango (News - Alert) In Global Partnership
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications and Handango have announced a worldwide partnership to bring content directly to Sony Ericsson (News - Alert) convergence phones, including the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, the first product using the Windows Mobile multimedia OS, and Sony Ericsson’s UIQ handsets. XPERIA X1 is designed for web communication and multimedia entertainment. Handango will provide an embedded Handango-branded Windows Mobile 6.1 InHand client for users to directly access to applications for enhanced device usage where users can browse the catalog online and offline searching for content for purchase.


SkyPilot Lowers Broadband Wireless CPE Prices
SkyPilot Networks (News - Alert) has introduced new pricing and unveiled new products for broadband wireless operators. SkyPilot is also introducing the SkyExtender Plus, a new version of the SkyExtender designed to improve performance in the most demanding outdoor environments. To lower the cost per broadband subscriber, the company has implemented bundle pricing for packs of SkyConnector customer premise equipment, which provides the fixed “last-mile” wireless connection for residential and business subscribers.

Teledex has unveiled its new range of VoIP DECT cordless phones, the Teledex iPhone (News - Alert) SIP NDC series phones, targeting the hospitality market. The Teledex SIP NDC series phones are powered by the latest DECT technology for base-handset communication, and SIP protocol for IP-PBX integration. Newport Digital Technologies to Deploy WiMAX (News - Alert) Network in Italy
Information Industry Taiwan (III) and Gil Technologies will deploy a WiMAX network for an Italian Telecom customer in Northern Italy. Under the agreement, NDT and Gil will design, plan and deploy III’s 02.16d and 16e WiMAX networks as well as deliver integration and support services for several regions in Italy. NDT has partnered with III on a number of ventures including international projects in Fiji and Tuvalu on WiMAX deployment, which will serve as a backbone to offering eLearning and telemedicine services.
New GN Netcom Wireless Headsets for IP Telephony
GN Netcom announced that it’s upgraded its Jabra (News - Alert) GN9300 range of wireless headsets which are used for both conventional as well as IP telephony. The enhanced series uses a more flexible material on the headband, neckband and earhook making it a lighter and more comfortable option, according to the company. The Jabra GN9300 range also offers clarity with an increased wireless range of up to 120 meters and a boom arm that reduces wind noise sensitivity, company officials say.




Emerson (News - Alert) Network Power Strengthens ATCA Blade Portfolio
Emerson Network Power has announced the addition of a new multi-core processor blade to its growing AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) (ATCA) blade portfolio. By combining quad-core Intel Xeon processors with a variety of memory options, plus redundant 10GbE support, the ATCA-7350 is designed to deliver the performance and flexibility needed by server-type communications network elements. The company will make available the ATCA-7350 in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The certification, officials said, guarantees that babyTEL’s carrier-grade VoIP service works seamlessly with the Grandstream’s IP-PBX. BabyTEL (News - Alert) plans to offer a bundle for their services with GXE502x. The services were developed to meet the requirements of today’s businesses that need to support virtual presences, multiple locations, satellite offices, mobile work force and tele-workers, according to the company.
TelePacific Extends SIP-Based Telephony, IP PBX Products
TelePacific Communications (News - Alert) announced that it has extended its session initiation protocol-based product line, “SmartVoice”. While the existing SmartVoice SIP trunk services provide traditional PRI and CAS network connections, the new SIP handoff will allow customers to plug the circuit directly into their SIP-enabled PBX, which will avoid the need for additional capital expenditures, company officials say. TelePacific installed their first SIP Network Connection service in partnership with Allworx (News - Alert), a small business phone and network solutions company.

The American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has selected the all-in-one IP communications software suite, Customer Interaction Center (CIC) from Interactive Intelligence. Electronic Payment Exchange, Pioneer Telephone (News - Alert) In Multi-Year Deal
Electronic Payment Exchange (EPX), a provider of fully integrated, end-to-end payment processing solutions, has signed a multi-year agreement with Pioneer Telephone to process its customers’ payments. EPX, as part of the agreement, will be the exclusive processor for credit and debit card payments for Pioneer. Payter Launches Mobile Payments for 9,000 Dutch Retailers
Payter announced today that it’s given the go-ahead for the nationwide rollout of payment by mobile telephone in Netherlands. Payter says its aim is to make the Netherlands one of the world’s leaders in “mobile payment convenience.” To accomplish this goal, Payter has the ambition to add 100,000 mobile users in 2009, company officials say. Payter and CCV, an electronic payment systems company, entered into an alliance to achieve nationwide acceptance of mobile payments, tickets, coupons, loyalty and giftcards by using POS terminals with an integrated Payter reader. The 9,000 retailers are spread across six major Dutch cities: Rotterdam, Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Arnhem.
Quickcomm, CorpoTel in LatAm TEM Partnership
CorpoTel is set to provide Quickcomm’s telecom expense management (TEM) solutions to carriers and enterprises in Latin America. Under the agreement, CorpoTel will add TEM to its existing ASP and BPO services by reselling Quickcomm’s global TEM software, including Quickcomm Enterprise, the next-generation Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that provides automation across wireless TEM, landline and data expense management systems.
