Alltel, owner of America’s largest wireless network, has available to its customers the Kyocera KX12 weather resistant handset, designed specifically for Alltel’s Touch2Talk customers.  Touch2Talk is Alltel’s walkie-talkie service offering coast to coast coverage.

The KX12 is perfect for anyone in a mobile environment, as its rugged design is designed specifically to survive greater “wear and tear” than most other wireless devices.  Kyocera offers leading-edge mobile phones and accessories combining the latest technical advances with easy-to-use interfaces and stylish design.

“The Kyocera KX12 is a practical, money-saving, productivity-boosting mobile tool with important features customers expect from their wireless phone,” said Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless product management at Alltel.

Kyocera KX12 features include:

  • Group calling functionality for personal and business needs;
  • Dust/water resistant, scratch-resistant housing and protective rubber side grips;
  • Dedicated contacts scroll, walkie-talkie, volume, and speakerphone buttons;
  • Text messaging and gaming;
  • Voice-activated dialing, polyphonic ringtones, and front-mounted speaker;
  • Flashlight;
  • BREW 2.1 and Axcess Web capable with super-jack data connection and CDMA 1x capable;
  •  Scheduler, calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, tip calculator, countdown timer and world clock.

The KX12 comes with a high capacity battery allowing for longer talk time — the company advertises up to nearly seven hours on a single charge.
