Tour operator owner The Travel Corp. tapped AT&T for its Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), the companies announced on Wednesday.

The Travel Corp. owns Trafalgar Tours, Contiki Holidays and Insight Vacations. The Travel Corp.'s new network will cover multiple continents and support it's subsidiaries in Toronto, London, Anaheim, Sydney, Geneva and other cities worldwide. Financial terms of the multi-year contract were not disclosed at press time.

AT&T's VPN will provide The Travel Corp. with a standard global platform supporting the company's networking infrastructure, including its travel reservation and operation system, videoconferencing, e-mail, and back-office applications. It will also link the company's international offices directly to each other and to the data center hub on common network.

According to the companies' news release, "the network also sets the stage for advanced technologies such as VoIP, enabling the company to grow and adapt to ever-changing business demands."

"AT&T was the only company providing the service at the level we required in all the countries we do business," said Amir Nadel, group CIO for The Travel Corp. "AT&T's global presence, proven technology and managed solution made it the only candidate for this job."

Through the AT&T BusinessDirect portal, The Travel Corp. will have online access to real-time reports on network performance and a direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems.

AT&T began the month of September announcing a three-year data and voice networking contract with ResMAE Mortgage Corp., a wholesale mortgage lender. ResMAE and AT&T have been working together since 2003. The agreement called for AT&T to link ResMAE's nine domestic offices through an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN).

AT&T has been scoring voice and data network deals left and right this month. Indeed, the telecom giant announced IP VPN deployment deals with Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc., Inventec Corp., Air Products and Chemicals Inc., and Atrium Companies Inc.
