RingByName Adds Spanish, Portuguese Language Support

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

There’s a reason ITEXPO (News - Alert) is billed as the world’s largest communications and technology event — or rather there are several reasons. To start with, many huge names in technology turn out for the event, usually with big news that they’ve held off on sharing until they get to ITEXPO.

With ITEXPO Las Vegas in full swing this week, it’s no surprise that many companies have already made announcements. For example, snom technology and Patton (News - Alert) Electronics introduced a new joint bundle a couple of days ago, while cloud-based telephone company RingByName today unveiled new language options for its hosted business phone service.

Specifically, the offering is now available in both Spanish and Portuguese. This is accomplished in part by a multi-lingual test-to-speech engine that enables businesses to customize phone greetings, voice prompts, menus and system notifications in either of these languages, as well as English. Of course, RingByName’s user interface, phone system administration and e-mail alerts are also available in the three languages, as well.

Best of all, each RingByName user is able to select their own language preference, allowing English, Spanish and Portuguese users to work together on a single phone system.

"We couldn't be more excited to extend RingByName's powerful feature-set and affordable price-tag (News - Alert) to businesses in Latin America," said Kooi Lim, CEO of RingByName. "We remain laser-focused on building RingByName into the world's most powerful and reliable cloud based phone system for businesses. We're also a global company with half our workforce residing in Latin America. For us, the decision to add Spanish and Portuguese language support was an easy one."

This isn’t the first major announcement RingByName has made at an ITEXPO, as the company revealed a three-way partnership with Grandstream Networks and TeleDynamics at ITEXPO Miami 2013 earlier this year.

Today’s announcement, meanwhile, means RingByName’s proprietary cloud-based phone service can expand its reach even further, while supporting the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking communities.
