Allworx Sets Out to Combine Corporate Communications with Mobile Options

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Allworx (News - Alert), a company focused on finding original ways to make complicated products remarkably easy to use, is enhancing a portfolio for Telcom & Data. This provider of business phone systems has introduced an upgrade to the Allworx System Software 7.5.

Allworx has built a strong reputation in the market for building VoIP phone systems that enable small business to increase sales, enhance customer service and improve productivity. The Reach smartphone and tablet app from Allworx is considered the most exciting feature in this latest software upgrade.

The app is designed to provide users with a new way to conduct communications. Bringing full phone system functionality to a mobile device in the past was out of the question – it just couldn’t be done. Now, thanks to this enhancement, users can enjoy all the IP-based Allworx phone features on their Android or Apple (News - Alert) tablet or smartphone.

Positioned as a valuable tool for sales professionals, attorneys and executives who need access to the corporate network and communication systems when out of the office, Reach provides the connectivity and access these professionals need. It also serves as a great option for those companies that provide options for professionals to work at home.

“In my opinion, this is the best upgrade Allworx has released. The Reach app is truly innovative and demonstrates their commitment to delivering the best solutions for the modern workplace. And we all know the modern workplace is mobile,” said Ricardo Trinidad, president of Telcom & Data, in a press release.

To discuss what Reach has done for Allworx and its expected success in the market, president Chris Hasenauer was on hand at this year’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) in Miami. When asked to describe Reach, he put it in simple terms. The company is essentially taking its phone system and virtualizing it on a mobile device.

“It has all the functionality of one of our handsets,” said Hasenauer. “You can see busy land fields, you can see intercom, page, park, conference, all the things you can do on a handset; virtualized on your mobile device. The exciting thing about that in addition to all the functionality is that fact that you own it. It’s in your server, in your closet, completely private, completely yours.”

In other words, this solution is something placed within the company’s private cloud, existing on its Allworx server. No new hardware is required to enjoy this enhanced capability.

Allworx also has plans to expand its product to its new parent company, Windstream (News - Alert). “You take a rental of our phone system along with their carrier service and full support and move it out into those markets. I’m really excited about that,” added Hasenauer.
