CouponCodes4u.com Finds Negative Consumer Response to the Addition of a Stylus to Tablets

By Brittany Walters-Bearden, TMCnet Contributor

CouponCodes4u.com has been surveying again, today releasing the results of a survey of 2,003 American tablet owners between ages 21 and 35. In this latest survey, CouponCodes4u.com was interested in learning more about consumers’ tablet preferences, in particular, whether or not they felt that the experience of using a tablet would be enhanced by a stylus, which Samsung (News - Alert) recently informed consumers would be included in the release of its upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1.

The chairman of CouponCodes4u.com, Mark Pearson, stated, “Following the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, with added stylus pen, we were intrigued to discover what consumers thought of this latest addition to the tablet market. Not surprisingly, the majority of Americans were turned off by the idea and even went as far as to say they were completely unnecessary.”

The results of the survey were somewhat surprising, considering the buzz that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been generating. Of those surveyed, 53 percent said that they would not use a stylus, 41 percent said that they would, and the remaining six percent said that it “depended on if it was vital that the stylus was to be used”.

The respondents who said that they would not purchase a tablet with a stylus were asked to explain their reasoning: 67 percent found that a stylus was “completely unnecessary”, 31 percent seemed to fear that their tablet would look like the PDAs of the early 2000’s, citing the fact that the stylus would make the tablet “look outdated” as the reason for their reservations, and, for another 22 percent, not purchasing a tablet with a stylus was a matter of practicality, fearing that they might lose a stylus.

Although the results of the survey were primarily negative towards the new Note, some of those surveyed were interested in the addition of a stylus, finding it helpful for lengthy typing, intriguing to imitate pen and paper, and helpful in reducing repetitive strain injuries.

This is just one of many surveys conducted by CouponCodes4u.com, who just last week released the results of a survey finding that consumers were disappointed by Apple’s decision to exclude the YouTube (News - Alert) app from its upcoming phone and tablet releases.
