IPico SIP Mobile Client Released for iPhone and iPod Touch


AudioCodes has reportedly partnered with MailVision (News - Alert) and has made iPico, MailVision’s mobile SIP client solution to be compatible with iPhone and iPod touch.



 
IPico is already available for Nokia (News - Alert) and Windows Mobile users and iPhone users can get the solution from the Apple’s App store.
 
AudioCodes the largest shareholder of MailVision, designs, develops and sells advanced Voice over IP and converged VoIP and data networking products and applications to service providers and enterprises.
 
MailVision’s iPico is a feature rich flexible application that has the capability to convert users’ iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod into a VoIP SIP phone. Based the latest SIP standards, iPico has standards-based presence and high quality voice in multiple codec formats with an intuitive, simple user interface.
 
IPico utilizes the iPhone's existing address book’s contacts, allowing users to conveniently use their stored information with their phone’s standard interface. The Mobile Soft Client is interoperable with major SIP Soft-switches and Gateways easing network deployment. With iPico, users are free from their dependence on the PCs and laptops to get connected to the rest of the world.
 
With the introduction of iPico, the iPod touch can become a fully operational mobile phone over Wi-Fi adding to its other capabilities. Service providers will be able to offer cost-effective voice calls and text messages facility over a Wi-Fi connection, via their iPod touch device.
 
IPico can be easily downloaded in to users’ iPhone and iPod touch and smoothly configured for use. It works on MailVision’s proven VoIP technology and expertise to deliver an unparalleled product quality.
 
MailVision has said that iPico is a powerful mobile VoIP solution, enabling Mobile and Broadband providers to offer end users an intuitive interface at reduced costs. Mobile operators and VoIP service providers can now offer their customers low-cost VoIP services while allowing them to utilize their iPhone and iPod touch as mobile phones.
 
Lior Aldema, vice president of marketing and product management at AudioCodes (News - Alert), said that the company actively promotes SIP Mobile Clients for advanced mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing service providers to reduce churn, extend their offering and differentiate their services. The partnership with MailVision will help officials expand their voice product portfolio to service providers and enterprises, he said.
 
AudioCodes was reportedly getting into the HD VoIP business and had launched MSBG product line.
