ManageEngine Releases New Version of ManageEngine FacilitiesDesk

ManageEngine reportedly announced the release of a new version of ManageEngine (News - Alert) FacilitiesDesk, an integrated facilities management application. The application features several new capabilities including an interface for the latest generation of smartphones designed specially for administrators of large facilities.

The new version of FacilitiesDesk helps administrators manage their facilities and assets even while traveling. The mobile interfaces support three leading platforms that of iPhone, BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Windows Mobile. Using these interfaces facility managers can connect to their FacilitiesDesk installation from anywhere and also check on the status of work requests assigned to them.

Administrators can manage their workload more efficiently as they can easily prioritize tasks by separating pending work orders and preventive maintenance tasks under different tabs. Work orders can be reported in real-time offering up-to-the-minute visibility into maintenance needs.

Seng Yip Leong, senior executive facilities, support operations department, for the World Wild Life Federation in Malaysia, said that with growth there was a need for a cost effective, single, central system to manage all operations. ManageEngine was selected because it allows easy access to work with data related to all the vendors, assets and facilities the organization depends on every day.

“A growing awareness of the importance of building and facilities management is leading to a rising demand for management software offering superior scalability and functionality,” said Ananda Raman Krishnan, product manager, ManageEngine FacilitiesDesk, said in a statement. “In response to these market needs, we are continuing to add dozens of new capabilities to our FacilitiesDesk suite, making it the right choice for even the largest installations.”

ManageEngine FacilitiesDesk is an integrated, Web-based facility management application which is available in two versions, namely Computerized Maintenance Management Software and Computer Aided Facilities Management. These meet the needs of individual administrators. The versions are easy to integrate and offer a robust feature set including tracking and management of assets, work orders and maintenance requests besides portfolio and move management.

Other new features added in both CMMS and CAFM editions are smartphone interfaces, work order and preventive maintenance management, LDAP support, which allows administrators to authenticate and import user information from directory support.

The e-mail parsing feature reduces supervisor’s time in sorting a work request. Windows 2008 server support, enhanced purchase order module and better user interface are other new features added, the company said.

In other news, ManageEngine recently unveiled an update to its Voice over Internet Protocol quality monitoring solution, VQManager, which focuses on catering to the management requirements of VoIP service providers.
