AppRiver Intros Digital Disaster Recovery Program

E-mail messaging and Web security solutions provider AppRiver, LLC reportedly has launched a Digital Disaster Recovery Program to protect businesses’ mission-critical e-mail operations during outages caused by natural disasters.

Disaster Recovery Program avoids e-mail downtime by providing e-mail continuity services to businesses facing imminent natural disaster. Companies affected can simply redirect e-mail to AppRiver’s secure data centers and once the danger passes and connectivity is restored, AppRiver will forward all outage-period e-mail activity to the company’s e-mail server, free of charge.

Michael Murdoch, CEO, AppRiver said that the Digital Disaster Recovery Program was designed to protect business e-mail and productivity during times of natural disaster.

He pointed said that as e-mail has become an integral part of doing business today, even momentary downtime has serious consequences for an organization’s bottom line, and suggested that businesses of all sizes should have a backup option that can maintain the continuity of e-mail during planned and unplanned downtimes.

Users just need to register to start using this program and can contact AppRiver to receive step-by-step instructions for redirecting their e-mail to AppRiver’s secure servers.

AppRiver will then start monitoring the company’s e-mail server activity and will keep track of connectivity with the e-mail server. Digital Disaster Recovery Program will begin queuing the businesses’ incoming e-mail messages in one of its own securely located data centers until that company’s e-mail servers are up and running again.

Since its inception in 2002, AppRiver provides simple, powerful email security solutions to businesses of any size. It is a privately-owned company with service offerings such as SecureTide spam and virus protection, Message Sniffer spam detection engine available to OEMs, and Microsoft Exchange Hosting with Shoreline.

AppRiver joined the Florida Chamber of Commerce to start the Digital Disaster Recovery Program in 2005. While the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Hurricane Preparedness Program remains in effect, AppRiver developed the Digital Disaster Recovery Program to meet the growing demand for e-mail continuity services by states impacted by natural disasters.
