Panasonic Restructures Communications Teams
By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Panasonic Corporation of North America reportedly has announced that the company will combine its communications solutions and document management groups into a reformulated group.
The communications group at Panasonic (News - Alert) offers networking solutions, including cordless phones, network cameras and photo and multi-function printers. The company’s Document Management System software streamlines document management tasks with “drag &drop” functionality, and documents such as those created by Microsoft (News - Alert) Word or Microsoft Excel can be managed in the same window.
The company says that a merger within its group will yield market gains in areas such as business telephony, document management and interactive collaboration tools. Panasonic has some well-regarded products in these categories and the company believes that it can now offer complete solutions for education, professional services, government, healthcare and retail.
“The new company enables Panasonic to bring together key strengths that we possess in communications systems with a wide range of networkable document management solutions,” said Bill Taylor (News - Alert), president at Panasonic. “Bringing these strengths together positions Panasonic Communications Company of North America for sustained growth based on the delivery of reliable, affordable and flexible solutions for a wide range of consumer and commercial applications.”
While Nick Miyake will lead the company’s sales effort as Executive Vice President, the new Panasonic Communications Company of North America is led by Taylor.
