Apstel Intros Enhanced Dialplan for Asterisk Open Source PBX

Apstel, a company paving the way to easier Asterisk usage and adoption with its visual management solutions, has unveiled the Visual Dialplan, an advanced, rapid application development platform.

A dialplan is basically a PBX (News - Alert) roadmap that routes every call in the system from its source, to its final destination. According to Apstel, using this next-generation development platform is the fastest way to build the Asterisk (News - Alert) dialplan.

The Visual Dialplan features a drag-and-drop visual modeling environment and a large component library. In addition, it offers useful dial plan samples, a robust validation engine, and single button deployment functionality.

It can even gather information to use regarding Asterisk server configuration. The Visual Dialplan also pre-populates library components with configuration data and accesses dial plans accordingly.

The platform helps create a new dialplan, preserve or upgrade an existing dialplan, and test Asterisk IVR, queues, conferencing, voicemail, TTS, ASR and other capabilities. The Visual Dialplan will enable users to view inbound and outbound call flows making contexts and macros descriptive and will validate dialplan before it is deployed to the Asterisk box.

Users can now develop Asterisk dial plans using Visual Dialplan and then deploy them directly to Free PBX, trixbox, PBX In a Flash or Elastix server.

Apstel is currently offering a free trial version.

Concentrating on changing the way Asterisk interacts with users, Apstel is enabling easier Asterisk usage and adoption by providing visual tools and solutions for its management. The company is also helping Asterisk extend is market footprint and become the main open source choice in the deployment of communications infrastructure.

Digium is the company behind Asterisk, the world's most widely used open source telephony platform. Digium (News - Alert) develops the software, hardware, and other components that are needed to create a unified communications solution for a small- or medium-sized business (SMB).

The company recently announced that the most recent version of the Asterisk-based IP PBX, Switchvox (News - Alert) SMB 4.0, was recognized as the “Best of Show” at TMC’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference and EXPO East 2009, which was held in Miami Beach February 2nd –4th, 2009.

The Switchvox SMB 4.0 features a host of new innovative features, including faxing, instant messaging, and enhanced IVR.
