TeleNav GPS Navigation Service Available for T-Mobile G1 Customers


TeleNav, a provider of Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation and mobile resource management solutions, announced the launch of its GPS navigation service to T-Mobile (News - Alert) G1 customers. The service will be available from February 24, 2009.



 
The GPS navigator has a large, beautiful touch screen that provides an effortless navigation experience. The service includes full-color 3D moving maps along with voice and on-screen turn-by-turn driving directions. Other features include speech recognition, traffic alerts with one-click rerouting, more than 10 million business listings, gas prices, weather updates and restaurant reviews. 
 
Navigation features are available in both landscape and portrait mode. Speech recognition feature is available for both address entry and business search. Business listings include restaurant ratings and reviews as well as phone numbers.
 
The gas price listing service is frequently updated, so drivers can look for the cheapest gas along their route. Weather services include current weather conditions as well as a five-day forecast for their present location or for a destination of their choice in the U.S.
Most importantly, TeleNav (News - Alert) GPS Navigator monitors specific routes and give information about traffic congestions or special incidents. The information is given in the form of alerts, both audible and on-screen.
 
Drivers can customize the navigator in a number of ways. They can set daily traffic commute alerts. At the requested times, TeleNav GPS Navigator will send an email alert with a summary of current traffic conditions and delays for their routes.
 
Customers also can preplan their trips using their online accounts. Additionally, the My TeleNav Internet browser plug-in for Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google (News - Alert) toolbars provides subscribers an easy way to send addresses to their phone from any Web page. Also, there is an advanced preference settings by which TeleNav customers can choose whether to avoid all high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes and toll roads.
 
“TeleNav has become synonymous with mobile phone GPS navigation. It is relied upon by millions of mobile customers,” said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and senior director of marketing, in a statement. “It was important to us that we build a great application for Android (News - Alert) and the G1 so that customers with this phone would have a remarkable experience.” 
 
TeleNav GPS Navigator will be available for a free 30-day trial on TeleNav's Web site. After the free period, customers can continue the service for $9.99 per month for unlimited use, the company said. TeleNav also plans to offer GPS Navigator in the Android Market later this year.
