Vizada, a provider of global satellite communications solutions, and Delta Wave Communications, will reportedly supply the US Army Corp of Engineers with Inmarsat (News - Alert) and Iridium mobile satellite communications services in the United States and overseas.
Vizada (News - Alert) has been contracted to provide sub-contracted services to Delta Wave as part of a deal worth up to $3 million per year over a three-year period. Both companies will supply mobile satellite airtime to the USACE, which will also use Vizada’s technical expertise, 24-hour customer support and a customized billing system for Inmarsat and Iridium communications.
The USACE provides engineering and infrastructure services for the Army and Air Force and Defense and Federal agencies. They decided on Delta Wave Communications (News - Alert) and Vizada as both providers offer a unique combination of both Inmarsat and Iridium services bundled with proven Vizada Solutions.
Among other mobile services, USACE is using Inmarsat BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network), which enables a broadband data connection and simultaneous voice calls. Company officials explain that BGAN’s global satellite coverage and the laptop-sized terminal can be carried from location to location. With the handheld mobile telephone, the Iridium 9505A, engineers are able to make voice calls from anywhere in the world, including the north and south poles.
According to officials, this combination of mobile satellite services has the ability to cater to a broad range of needs during remote missions such as increased security through rapid access to a voice service anywhere in the world; smooth-running of operations through constant contact between HQ and teams in the field; greater autonomy for remote employees through broadband data connections; and improved morale among remote or overseas-based engineers through private communications solutions.
“Vizada continues to enhance its service and solution offerings to meet the rapidly changing needs of customers such as USACE,” said Bob Baker, president of Vizada.
