- Lipstream, a developer of live voice solutions
for e-business, announced that Matthew C. Jones is joining the company as
president and CEO. Jones will lead the direction of the company's business plan --
enabling e-businesses to quickly deploy voice communication by providing the back-end
networking infrastructure and bandwidth required to deliver multi-person, live voice
communication on the Internet -- and will report directly to Lipstream's board of
directors.
- Wireless communications carrier Leap Wireless
International, Inc. announced that Susan G. Swenson has been
appointed president of Leap Wireless International, Inc. and as CEO for Leap's subsidiary,
Cricket Communications, Inc. She will report directly to Harvey White, Leap's chairman and
CEO. Swenson joins Leap's office of the chair.
- Cerent Corporation announced that Michael
Ashby has joined the company as CFO. Ashby will report to Cerent President and
CEO, Carl Russo. He joins Cerent from Ascend, where he was executive vice president and
CFO. Ashby will be responsible for the financial and administrative functions at Cerent,
effective immediately.
- FaceTime Communications, an innovator in
Internet-based customer interaction solutions, announced that top IBM e-business executive
Kelly Trammell joined the company as President. Trammell joins FaceTime
from a IBM's Global Services Division, where he led the e-business services team to market
leadership in e-banking, e-brokerage, and electronic bill payment and presentment.
- MCK Communications, Inc., a provider of remote voice
solutions for telecommuters, remote call center agents, executives and branch offices,
announced Paul J. Severino was appointed to its Board of Directors.
Severino will invest in the company and provide entrepreneurial and technical expertise,
assuring MCK's continued role as the leading innovator and provider of remote voice
technology solutions. Severino co-founded Bay Networks, Inc. in 1994 and served as the
company's chief executive officer and director until November, 1996.
- Teligent, an integrated communications company,
announced that Richard J. Hanna, a 20-year veteran of the communications
industry, has been named President of Teligent International. In his new role, Hanna, 43,
will report to Teligent Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alex J. Mandl. Hanna formerly
served as president of Teligent's domestic field operations unit.
- Hewlett-Packard Company announced that Carleton
(Carly) S. Fiorina has been named president and chief executive officer,
succeeding Lewis E. Platt, who previously announced his intention to retire. Fiorina also
will join the HP board of directors. Fiorina was president of Lucent Technologies' Global
Service Provider Business, Lucent's largest and fastest-growing division, with more than
$20 billion in annual revenue. Fiorina brings to HP nearly 20 years of broad technology
and telecommunications experience at Lucent and AT&T, and a demonstrated track record
of successfully growing large businesses.
- Universal Access, Inc. (UAI), a provider of
end-to-end network connection and high-capacity bandwidth provisioning services, announced
the appointment of Kenneth A. Napier to Senior Vice President of Business
Development. Napier will report to Patrick Shutt, the company's co-founder, president and
CEO, and he will oversee all marketing, business development, and client services and
provisioning efforts.
- Decisionism announced that it has hired Bruce
Rylander as Director of Telecommunications Applications to develop and implement
the business strategy that will deliver on Decisionism's commitment to the
telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Decisionism, Rylander was Director of
Revenue Information and Data Infrastructure Development at US WEST. He was instrumental in
developing in-house OLAP expertise that resulted in the delivery of multiple revenue
assurance and marketing solutions. Rylander will be joined by Aaron Grzywinski,
also from US WEST's OLAP solutions team.
- Brooktrout Technology announced the appointment
of John Ison as vice president and general manager of its Silicon
Valley-based Voice Technologies Division, where he will be responsible for overseeing all
day-to-day operations including sales and marketing, engineering, and technical support.
Ison joins Brooktrout Technology from Live Picture, Inc., a leading provider of imaging
solutions for the Internet based in Campbell, CA, where he served as vice president of
marketing.
- ServiceWare Corporation, a provider of
equipment-centric CRM systems, announced the appointment of Gary Gudbranson
to Vice President of Marketing. Gudbranson will have direct responsibility for overseeing
ServiceWare's worldwide marketing initiatives and partnerships for the ServicePlus family
of products. As a key member of the executive leadership team, Gudbranson will develop and
execute the company's go-to-market strategy.
