Latens Exhibits ECOsystem Service Delivery Platform at NXTcomm08

At the NXTcomm08 event this week, Latens Systems (News - Alert) exhibited its Latens ECOsystem service delivery platform and a pack of content protection software solutions.
Latens Systems is a supplier of dynamic, software-based Conditional Access for the secure delivery of content to IP devices and television set-top-boxes and their content and revenue protection systems are used by content owners to secure the delivery of their content.
Latens claims that its has built a portfolio of providing downloadable software based conditional access system (CAS) using secure software module technology and management systems. This ensures maximum security to Pay-TV and IPTV operators with lower costs. And also their Latens CAS family of products provides not just encryption but they also speed up time to market and help in delivering cost effective revenue generating services now and in the future.
Latens demonstrated the Latens ECOsystem with EchoStar, a digital media equipment company. The companies showed how this new platform was specially designed for providing VIP-TV. For this a live satellite content feed was taken and delivered as a high quality H.264 SD and HD content via Latens ECOsystem to an H.264 DVR Set-top box.
“With the partnership with Echostar, IPTV (News - Alert) operators in the U.S.A now have greater access than ever to our solutions. Operators can deploy the complete Latens powered ViP-TV content and technology solution or choose to deploy a third party middleware solution protected by Latens’ class leading IPTV conditional access,” said Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens.
Mathieson added: “We have had huge success in the U.S. market, with our conditional access systems chosen by over 60 telcos that want the best in content protection. We put these achievements down to the flexibility and ease of operation of our solutions and expect that this success will increase as operators will now find it easier than ever to deploy an IPTV offering based on our solutions.”
In the rapidly evolving IPTV market the ECOsystem is claimed to bring a new standard in viewer experience, flexibility, scalability and performance. This solution provides IPTV operators with, the full range of Echostar ViP-TV services, viewer software for navigation, selection and viewing of services, live and on-demand service management functionality, integrated best in class software-based conditional access security providing proven scalability to millions of customers, comprehensive interactive portal set-up and system management software and extensive service management and administration facilities.
ECO was designed for IPTV operators aiming to scale to very large scale, distributed network deployments. It supports the full range of IPTV client functions, basic and advanced STBs, PVR, PC, multi-box home, video on demand (VoD), Network PVR, catch-up TV and more and it is fully convertible to the operator’s requirements in terms of services line-ups, User Interfaces and interfaces to back-office systems.
