TranSwitch Presents Ethernet-Based Solutions at NXTcomm08

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

TranSwitch (News - Alert) announced that it will be demonstrating its latest Ethernet-based solutions at NXTcomm08 next week in Las Vegas.

TranSwitch Corporation designs, develops and markets innovative carrier-class semiconductors that provide core functionality and complete solutions for voice, data and video communications network equipment. The company provides its solutions to telecom, datacom, cable television and wireless markets. The company’s customers include various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that serve public network, the Internet, and corporate wide area networks (WANs).

TranSwitch is demonstrating its latest Ethernet-based solutions, which include Diplomat-IP for next-generation broadband access market, PacketSID for packet-based clock recovery, Envoy-XE for carrier-class access systems, and HD-PXL-1.3 for HDMI/DVI applications. The company’s products support the requirements of next-generation based Ethernet services.

TranSwitch Diplomat-IP is a high performance configurable Ethernet/ATM packet processor with an integrated MIPS control processor, comprehensive traffic manager and full switching capability for next generation applications.  The controller addresses the needs of next-generation IP-DSLAM systems. It is a feature-rich controller that is optimized to transport Ethernet and ATM traffic for next generation IP-DSLAM equipment. It supports eight classes of services and integrated control and management plane functions and also shows per-flow traffic management capabilities.

The controller also incorporates two GE ports facilitates flexible system connectivity with 1:1 protection, link aggregation, or daisy chain for protection/restoration, remote DSLAM and stacked DSLAM respectively. It also has a powerful packet engine for Layer 2 to Layer 4 wire-speed processing with capacity up to 3.2 Gbps and 4mpps. It is also used in digital loop carriers (DLC), broadband access gateways, EPON OLTs, packet-over-SONET/SDH and other markets.

TranSwitch PacketSID is an integrated solution for the wireless backhaul and access application. It can recover accurate clock information from the packet data stream based on Adaptive techniques -TDMoIP, SAToP, or CESoPSN or IEEE 1588v2 protocol.

TranSwitch Envoy-XE is a carrier-class single-chip Ethernet/VLAN/MPLS switch/traffic manager with OIF (News - Alert) SPI-3 interface for Ethernet in the first mile (EFM) and access applications. It can be used for offload or replacement of traditional NPU functions like QoS at Layer 2 (VLAN, MPLS) and Layer 3 (IP ToS), and VLAN service statistics. The solution can perform wire-speed Ethernet, VLAN, and MPLS switching for 75 ports together with traffic management including MEF- and IETF-compliant dual leaky bucket policer and advanced scheduling in a single chip.

TranSwitch HD-PXL-1.3 is a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) receiver IP Core. The Intellectual Property (IP) core can be used for a variety of digital video and audio applications operating over standard DVI or HDMI cables. It is a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) based IP core that is compliant with the DVI 1.0 and HDMI 1.3 standards and supports a wide range of video interface modes.

TranSwitch’s telecommunications experts will be delivering presentations on IEEE 1588v2 Clock Recovery, Next Generations Services in the E-World and The Ethernet OAM&P Challenge at the NXTcomm (News - Alert) 2008 event.
