Matisse Networks Prepares for Session, Exhibit at NEXTcomm08
By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributing Editor
Matisse Networks (News - Alert), a company that specializes in optical burst switching (OBS) solutions, is gearing up to co-present a session, “The Next Step in the Packet Transport Evolution: The Virtualization of the Optical Layer Towards Unified Packet Network Architectures,” at the NCTcomm08 tradeshow next week.
The session takes place June 17, and will be moderated by Infonetics Research (News - Alert) analyst Michael Howard.
In addition to this session, Matisse will also be showcasing its EtherBurst Packet WDM system using the Ixia (News - Alert) IxNetwork testing suite to simulate a combined 60Gbps of triple play (voice, video and data) traffic and high-bandwidth low-latency business Ethernet services.
Matisse claims that its EtherBurst is the world’s first Packet WDM System, purpose-built for scaling metro and campus networks. It includes the SX-1000 Ethernet Service Node, the PX-1000 Photonic Node, and MatisseView Management System. Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) is a technology that combines multiple optical carrier signals on a single optical fiber connection.
Discussions during the session will cover the wide aspect of the new compelling technology of optical burst switching and focus on the different alternatives packet transport vendors have to make optical bandwidth virtualization a reality.
