StarVox Introduces Cisco-based Network Telephony Solution
StarVox, Inc. announces a new network telephony
solution based on Cisco Systems, Inc. voice gateways that will help Global 5000
corporations and enterprise customers migrate their legacy PBX environments to packet
telephony. StarVox also announces that it has joined the Cisco New World Ecosystem program
and is working to incorporate a variety of Cisco voice-enabled routers and access devices
into the full range of StarVox network telephony solutions.
StarVox network telephony solutions address universal business issues, such as the
limited number of assistants available to screen calls and locate users for important
calls, the incompatibility of multiple vendor telephone systems, and the need for simple
user interfaces that enable a common set of telephone features across the entire
enterprise. These solutions allow the integration of cellular phones into the corporate
voice communication fabric and simplify the migration to LAN telephone systems that are
fully interoperable with legacy PBX and voicemail systems.
The StarVox network telephony solution being demonstrated at VON uses a StarVox
directory services-enabled gatekeeper/application server to provide transparency of common
features between PBXs interconnected via a Cisco-based IP network. StarVox is also showing
two Java-based applications: StarCall, simplifying the use of PBX features, and
StarMobile, effectively transforming a notebook PC into a PBX telephone.
These network telephony solutions make it possible for workers to take their corporate
phone number identity and functionality with them to any location, using any type of
telephone device (PBX, PC, cell, home, or IP phone), connected to the associated network
(PSTN, IP, or wireless).
"Were delighted to welcome StarVox as a member of the Cisco New World
Ecosystem," said Alistair Woodman, Director of Marketing for Packet Telephony.
"The StarVox solution, building on the Cisco Open Packet Telephony framework, allows
businesses to migrate legacy PBX environments to New World packet based telephony,
extending and increasing the features available to users while maintaining investment
protection in existing equipment."
"We are very pleased to be working with Cisco," said Rich Barry, StarVox
president and CEO. "The information, technology exchange, and support provided by the
New World Ecosystem creates the ideal environment to jointly deliver best-in-class voice
solutions."
