NetCom GSM Chooses Amdocs' Ensemble Customer Care and
Billing Solution
NetCom GSM, the largest private telecommunications company in Norway, and Amdocs, an international provider of customer care and
billing solutions to the telecommunications industry, announced an agreement for the
implementation of Amdocs' UNIX-based Ensemble solution for convergent customer care and
billing.
According to Mr. Terje Christoffersen, CEO of NetCom GSM, "This strategic project
with Amdocs will establish a world-class, convergence solution that will serve as a
platform for our GSM and long distance operations well into the next century."
Mr. Christoffersen emphasized the benefits of the new system for NetCom's customers:
"The comprehensive, end-to-end functionality and inherent flexibility of Amdocs'
solution will enhance our ability to support the needs of our customers. This includes the
ability to introduce new and attractive pricing plans quickly and to deliver advanced
products and services ahead of the competition. The system also provides the one-stop
customer care and flexible billing capabilities needed to improve service levels and
retain customer loyalty."
NetCom chose Amdocs after a very thorough and comprehensive vendor selection process
which lasted well over one year. Said Mr. Harald Naess, IT Director at NetCom GSM,
"We understood the complexity involved in a system replacement effort of this scope,
particularly due to the mission-critical nature of the systems involved, and we had a very
clear vision of what we were looking for both in terms of system and vendor. Amdocs'
experience in performing system replacement projects and its ability to provide support
throughout all project phases, including implementation, migration and production support,
were critical decision factors for us."
NetCom's mobile and long distance operations will be supported by Ensemble, Amdocs'
multi-service product platform. Ensemble supports all special aspects of the unique GSM
environment, such as acquisition and formatting of GSM data input formats, provisioning of
GSM network elements, and inventory management of SIM cards and MSISDNs. As a result,
Amdocs offers an effective, low-risk solution which can be implemented within the required
time frames.
