Octasic’s (News - Alert) Vocallo MGW multi-core DSP platform has been integrated into the Italtel NetMatch product line and it will be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2012 to be held at Barcelona from Feb 27 – Mar 1.
TMCnet reported that Italtel (News - Alert) NetMatch is a multi-functional family of products that addresses the challenges associated with networks interconnection and boasts multiple capabilities including powering voice, data and video traffic similar to an IP media server. The solutions offer both voice and HD video capabilities, along with all necessary protocol adaptations and they are characterized by high performance and easy scalability.
Vocallo MGW from Octasic is a multi-core processor for voice and video over IP and is claimed to be industry’s most versatile DSP platform for voice and video over IP applications. The platform also delivers optimal pricing scalability for media gateways in enterprise and converged fixed-mobile carrier networks.
Italtel was supposedly impressed with the Octasic Opus-based chips’ flexibility and ability to keep a high-density to power ratio and it also wanted its NetMatch to be a flexible, multi-purpose solution that is also future-proof. So Italtel deployed the Octasic chips to handle all media processing in NetMatch solutions. Now the NetMatch product line demonstrates the flexibility of Octasic’s Vocallo MGW solution.
“We are glad that Italtel found the right fit for their NetMatch product line with our Vocallo MGW products. The ability to run both voice and video channels on the same chip gives our customers an unparalleled advantage over their competition,” commented James Awad, director of Marketing at Octasic, in a press release. “While other competitive solutions that use hardware acceleration or external co-processors cannot be software-upgraded to add new features or capabilities making it harder to implement a mix of audio and video on the same card, we make it easier for carriers to deploy Next Generation services by offering efficient hardware today that will not become obsolete as demand for video services increase.”
In other news, Octasic Inc. recently announced that it has partnered with Deltenna Limited, a designer and manufacturer of innovative wireless infrastructure and access points, to create new and cutting edge Small cell base station solutions. At Mobile World Congress 2012, they are introducing the world's smallest Microcell/Small cell platform, the WhiteStar, available to OEMs, Integrators and Operators.
