Unlike in traditional telephony, where bundles of physical wires were once delivered from the service provider to a business, SIP trunking allows a company to replace these traditional fixed PSTN lines with PSTN connectivity via a SIP trunking service provider on the Internet. SIP trunks can offer significant cost-savings for enterprises, eliminating the need for local PSTN gateways.
IP fax solutions provider Sagemcom is harnessing the cost-saving benefits of SIP trunking, and they revealed at Interop (News - Alert) Las Vegas this week the latest XMediusFAX T.38 Fax over IP (FoIP) server software.
Many communications routers and telephony systems today have been incorporating IP for several years now as IP-based telephony systems have gained a strong foothold in the mainstream market. With this came the proliferation of fax over IP, or FoIP. With FoIP, users can receive faxes directly to e-mail accounts, access faxes from anywhere, read faxes from within the privacy of an e-mail account and archive e-mailed faxes electronically, creating easier filing and documentation.
The advanced T.38 FoIP integration for Cisco (News - Alert), Avaya, AudioCodes and Alcatel VoIP platforms has been deployed by enterprises, governments and service providers worldwide since 2002. XMediusFAX eliminates costly analog phone lines, fax boards, long-distance charges, toners, paper and maintenance.
“Sagemcom’s eco-friendly IP fax server solutions are virtualizable at both the enterprise and service provider levels. Our XMediusFAX SP’s multi-tenancy also caters to hot trends such as cloud-based faxing,” said Jean Champagne (News - Alert), General Manager, Sagemcom Canada Inc. “And because of Sagemcom’s involvement with the SIP Forum, and certified interoperability with leading SIP trunking providers such as Global Crossing (News - Alert), we continue to lead the fax industry with innovative solutions for virtualization, SaaS, and SIP trunking.”
XMediusFAX can also integrate with Cisco’s Service-Ready Engine Virtualization (SRE-V) platform, which is part of Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) Express.
Whether you have a home or work office, online fax services are an efficient and cost-effective way to send and receive documents. The quick, easy and efficient online faxing process streamlines office productivity and promotes a green work environment. Sagemcom’s Fax over IP solutions are beneficial for multisite enterprises for greener IT, cost-reduction and improved operational efficiencies through SIP trunking and virtualization.
