MMRGlobal Unveils Prepaid, Personalized PHR Access Cards

MMRGlobal, producer of personal health records (PHR), has announced that it will issue prepaid PHR cards for physicians and hospitals to dispense to patients. The company revealed the new cards at Information and Management Systems Society Conference (HIMSS) where it also displayed its MyMedicalRecords PHR.

Healthcare professionals can now hand out a PHR access card which gives their patients the ability to create and manage a comprehensive online PHR, instead of leaving the doctor's office with an appointment reminder card. Along with the ability to send records by outbound fax, the cards offer a prescription drug database and the ability to generate appointment and prescription reminders. The system also includes a document management system and a MyEsafeDepositBox, the company said in a press release.

“Healthcare professionals are not known for their marketing yet marketing is of vital importance to any healthcare organization. Our concept converts a doctor's business card to a potentially lifesaving PHR that educates users and generates revenue through our built-in Stimulus Program while reducing costs of responding to patient requests for medical records," said Robert H. Lorsch, Chairman and CEO of MMRGlobal, in the release. "We also plan on making this program available to drug companies, labs and other healthcare organizations marketing to doctors.”

Hospitals and medical offices can use the cards as a cost-effective incentive to patients and outpatients to better manage their health. Since the cards will be custom designed, they will permit physicians and healthcare providers to remind patients where they receive their care. The prepaid PHR card is serves as a versatile business card for physicians. Having a PHR card can improve care, reduce costs and even make the difference in saving a patient's life, by placing access to a full-featured PHR at the point of care.

Recently, the company received another patent for "Method and System for Providing Online Medical Records." The new patent expands the protection for the company's technology related to online Personal Health Records and document imaging and filing solutions. The patented methods are embodied by the Company's solutions, including the storage, management of, and emergency access to health records and other important documents.
