SmartSync Technology for Smart Homes Launched by Pella Windows and Doors

Homeowners are constantly looking for convenient ways to save energy in their homes by using technology. The newest innovation, SmartSync technology has been launched by Pella Windows and Doors.

Shades or blinds can be controlled simply by a remote control with the integrated system, Pella SmartSync. This is similar to the snap-in options available in Pella Designer Series windows and patio doors. Web-enabled devices like computers and most smartphones can also be used by homeowners to build an automation system with Pella SmartSync.

Pella introduced its SmartSync innovation at last week’s CES (News - Alert) 2012, by featuring it in the re-launched Schlage LiNK system. The Schlage LiNK system has now expanded as a smart home automation system, Nexia Home Intelligence.

At CES, Pella displayed products that can be easily integrated through SmartSync technology when it enters the emerging smart home market later in 2012. Blinds or shades can be scheduled to open and close on a desired schedule with SmartSync, so homeowners can set up a look that the home is occupied, especially when they are away.

In a release, Polly Tousey, strategic programs manager, Pella said, "Like other Pella products, Pella SmartSync technology is designed with purpose. It's engineered to provide convenient benefits and ultimately help you save energy. For example, you can quickly and conveniently adjust blinds or shades in your Pella windows to control light, privacy and help save energy in your home or business."

Homeowners have been asked to open southern-facing window treatments in the winter. According to Pella, this will help save energy as during the days, the sun's warming rays will enter the house. Pella also suggests closing windows during night. This will help to keep the heat in even when the temperatures drop outside. Cooling costs during summers can be reduced by closing blinds or shades during the day.
