Electric Vehicle Naimo from Kia Motors Will Debut at 2012 Consumer Electronics Show

The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES (News - Alert)) will open its doors in Las Vegas soon. Those attending will be able to catch a look at the Kia Motors' electrified vehicle future as the Ray production Electric Vehicle and Naimo EV concept car will both be on display here in North America for the first time ever. You will find that both vehicles feature advanced lithium polymer battery packs. In fact, the Naimo also brings about a cutting edge User Centered Driving telematics concept. This allows the driver to see in advance all the possible means of safe approach. It will also provide for media and entertainment in-vehicle.

In a release, Michael Sprague, Vice President, Marketing & Communications, KMA, said, "With the Kia Ray, which is Korea's first production electric vehicle, and the Naimo concept's forward-thinking UCD telematics, Kia is demonstrating leadership in the area of advanced technology development as our global R&D team pursues the goal of taking the vehicle-driver relationship to new levels with facial recognition technology and a number of interactive features. Where the Naimo EV concept looks into the future of zero-emissions vehicles from Kia, the Ray EV is the first realization for the brand and represents exciting new possibilities for the future in the North American market."

One will be able to view the entire functioning prototype of the UCD Concept. This will be on the Kia Naimo zero-emissions EV concept and is representative of futuristic vehicle/occupant dynamics. It will come with a "glass cockpit" style interface and will make use of a digital display that will come in the place of the usual cluster of gauges on the dashboard. It will have reality features like navigation directions and also downloadable applications related to parking and easier ways of driving.

The Kia Naimo Electric Vehicle Concept got its name from the Korean word "Ne-mo" and means "square shape.” The concept of the Naimo EV was entirely the brainchild of Kia's international design team in Seoul. Its features like in its simple lines as well as solid body. This is the third electric vehicle design that the Kia Motors Corporation has come up with in a single year.
