By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
In an effort to help managed network operators deliver the best possible video experience to consumers, SeaChange International has reportedly announced a new universal session resource manager. According to SeaChange, its uSRM will provide guarantee quality of service across access, aggregation and edge networks.
SeaChange’s uCRM will let operators guarantee quality of service across access, aggregation and edge networks for cable, Internet protocol and wireless delivery of video. The software is expected to support only IP-based networks in the initial stages. Also, with policies based on business rules, the software provides per-subscriber quality-of-service guarantees.
The SeaChange uSRM has the capacity to the use of network resources on behalf of applications such as IMS, IPTV (News - Alert), video-on-demand, generic data services and video-based Internet services. With SeaChange uSRM, there is no need for complex functions within each application if it is located between the transport network and applications.
“The introduction of the uSRM is part of SeaChange’s overall strategy to help broadband video operators achieve the goal of premium content video anytime, anywhere through managed content delivery networks,” said Yvette Kanouff, chief strategy officer, SeaChange, in a statement. “The promise of ubiquitous video across three screens means little unless consumers can be assured of a positive experience that will keep them engaged and coming back for more.”
SeaChange’s uSRM will make sure that the customers will enjoy the best video experience possible, irrespective of the place they are in. it also makes sure that they get the best quality video irrespective of the type of device being used. The SeaChange uSRM leverages fully integrated resource control management software from NetSocket.
Recently, the company partnered with IP video encoding provider Envivio to extend the product integration partnership to offer MPEG-4 based IPTV services in Asia. The new product is an integrated service which allow for the provision of consumer video services in developing markets with limited network bandwidth. The SeaChange TV Navigator IPTV platform features Envivio's (News - Alert) 4Caster C4 video encoder.
