Intrado Introduces 911Plus Info Check

BY JOHANNE TORRES

Last time I reported on Intrado (news - alert), the company made a major announcement along with Vonage (news - alert) about their joint E911 (news - alert) efforts in the state of Rhode Island. Both companies talked about their VoIP E911 joint solution, which would allow for physical address updating by VoIP service subscribers. Since then, the telecom technology provider has made very significant developments and enhancements to its 9-1-1 products.

The company announced today the availability of 911Plus Info Check, Intrado’s new tool that allows telephone subscribers to quickly and easily verify the accuracy of their 9-1-1 address information. Intrado has designed 911Plus Info Check to also support access to 9-1-1 service information related to wireless and VoIP phones. An undisclosed large telecommunications carrier has already agreed to partner with Intrado in a consumer trial of this system. Details of the trial will be announced at a later date.

"Throughout Intrado's history, we have pioneered advances that have improved the quality of 9-1-1 systems," said George Heinrichs, Intrado chief executive officer. "Providing for self-validation of 9-1-1 address information is a breakthrough next step in the continuous improvement of data quality."

When using 911Plus Info Check, subscribers would be able access the self-validation system by dialing a special number and following integrated voice response instructions. Following a few simple steps, which include information security and privacy protection, users would hear their 9-1-1 address information on record for their phone number; if the information is inaccurate, callers can report the inaccuracy via the system.

In addition to the newly released 911Plus Info Check, Intrado’s 911Plus service suite includes:

  • 911Plus PBX/Centrex Extension Manager -- allows the 9-1-1 database to be updated with an explicit location of each extension within a building, campus or complex.
  • 911Plus Personal Emergency Profile -- allows subscribers to provide emergency dispatchers with key medical or location information in the event of a 9-1-1 call.
  • 911Plus Emergency Contact Notification -- allows the designation of third parties to be notified in the event a 9-1-1 call is made from the phone of a participating subscriber.
  • 911Plus Language-Based Routing -- enables the routing of 9-1-1 calls to call takers who can speak the caller's language.
