Data is one of the most important assets of any organization, so it’s exceptionally important that they have adequate technology in place to ensure the security of data, systems and applications as well as the capability to back up and restore them when necessary. Dell (News - Alert) recently announced some new additions to its Dell Data Protection solution set that will further expand its range of offerings that help organizations achieve these goals.

The new Rapid Recovery solution is an evolution of AppAssure and provides comprehensive backup and recovery options for essentially any organizational need, whether it is hosted physically, virtually or in the cloud. The solution optimizes users’ application experiences while providing this full under-the-hood support with a wide range of industry-standard data protection features.

The company also launched three new de-duplication appliance models to join Dell’s DR series: the DR4300e, DR4300 and DR6300. These new models will continue to offer customers optimized data backup and recovery tools but with higher capacity and improved performance. Customers can confidently back up large quantities of data at astonishing speeds with Dell’s patented sliding-block de-duplication technology, which substantially reduces network bandwidth congestion and boosts ingest performance.

The DR4300e is an entry-level model that offers up to 27 TB of usable capacity and the DR4300 delivers as much as 108 TB, finally bringing de-duplication capabilities to smaller organizations that have lacked access to enterprise-grade technologies. The DR6300 offers unprecedented scalability with up to 360 TB of usable capacity, in support of growing network environments for midmarket organizations bordering on small enterprise.

Also included in this series of product announcements is Version 11 of NetVault, Dell’s cross-platform enterprise backup and recovery solution. The latest version includes several important new features that further enhance the product’s scalability and performance capabilities. The new Enterprise Windows client deployment manager lets users automate installation for as many as 1,000 clients, which significantly streamlines workflows. A new file system multi-streaming capability further improves performance by letting customers back up different chunks of data simultaneously, and a restartable VMware backup feature lets users pick up where a job was left off to maximize data continuity.

The icing on the cake is a new Free Edition of Dell Data Protection / Endpoint Recovery that provides straightforward and lightweight tools for backing up and recovering data. Also including file de-duplication features, Endpoint Recovery Free Edition is designed for a single user and can be left to its own devices once properly configured.

Dell Data Protection is a robust and constantly-growing pantheon of solutions that offers complete security and recovery for critical systems, data and applications. All of the aforementioned products will become available starting in early March.
