Qualcomm Picks ANADIGICS' AWT6521 Multi-Mode PA for Gobi 3000 ModuleBy Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor ANADIGICS has announced that it is shipping production volumes of its AWT6521 multi-mode power amplifier (PA) for the Qualcomm Gobi 3000 module. In frequency bands used by operators, AWT6521 PA supports WCDMA/ HSPA+ and CDMA/EVDO. Company officials said that this provides users with more choice in carrier networks and the freedom to go without fear of losing connectivity. The Gobi 3000 reference design is based on Qualcomm's (News - Alert) MDM6200 and MDM6600 chipsets. Both the chipsets can provide support for HSPA+ data rates of up to 14.4 Mbps. “The Gobi 3000 multi-mode platform provides high data rate wireless functionality to a broad spectrum of mobile devices,” said Jerry Miller, vice president of business development at ANADIGICS. Miller said that Qualcomm’s selection of the company’s new multi-band power amplifier for the Gobi 3000 platform exemplifies the strength of the successful relationship and the performance advantages of this product. The company expects to work closely with Qualcomm to develop the next-generation mobile solutions that continue to set the standard in wireless connectivity performance, Miller said. Some of the key highlights of ANADIGICS AWT6521 Multi-Band PA include a space saving 5 mm x 7 mm x 1 mm package; 2 shared RF inputs, 5 separate 50 ohm matched outputs; integrated RF coupler; internal voltage regulation; integrated DC blocks on RF ports. In addition, it’s also WCDMA, HSPA, and HSPA+ as well as CDMA/EVDO compliant. ANADIGICS delivers integrated radio frequency (RF) solutions that OEMs and ODMs demand to optimize the performance of wireless, broadband and cable applications across all major networks and standards. Last month, the company introduced a new series of power amplifiers (PAs), leveraging the Company’s third generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP) technology.
