Ingate Bundles Free Security ModuleBy Bob Emmerson, TMC European Editor Ingate Systems announced that Intrusion (News - Alert) Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS) solutions for SIP are now bundled as a free software module on the company’s firewall and SIParator products. Firewalls and SIParators already in use can be upgraded for free. With IP attacks to steal VoIP service a genuine threat, weak passwords still providing an opportunity for malicious activity, and the potential for overloading VoIP systems a possibility, IDS/IPS has become a crucial security measure for enterprise deployments of SIP. Ingate is giving its SIP IDS/IPS module to all users of its product in order to protect against attacks targeting SIP devices, such as IP-PBXs. IDS/IPS works in tandem with Ingate’s existing security technologies. “These days we are actually seeing attempts to steal or deny IP telephony service,” said Steven Johnson (News - Alert), president of Ingate Systems. “Ingate is happy to continue to provide its customers with the highest level of protection for their LAN and IP-PBX (News - Alert), by making our SIP IDS/IPS module available free of charge to all our customers. Used in conjunction with the SIP proxy technology that is built into our Firewalls and SIParators, it delivers maximum protection for enterprises using SIP communications. There is no more complete security solution on the market today.” Ingate is hosting the SIP Trunk-Unified Communications Summit at ITEXPO West 2010 . The free educational seminars will highlight all the facts about SIP Trunking and Unified Communications (News - Alert) from the industry’s top experts and will include a live demo of a SIP Trunk that is deployed in 20 minutes or less.
