Motorola Enables Integration Of Conditional
Access Technology From Viaccess
Motorola Inc. Broadband
Communications Sector announced it has signed an Early Release Scheme
Agreement that allows the integration of conditional access
(CA) technology from Viaccess into
three of its most popular DVB-compliant
digital set-tops. Motorola has committed to port the Viaccess libraries to
the DVi1000, the DVi3000 and DVi3500 Euro-DOCSIS capable set-tops.
Motorola is porting the most recent Viaccess CA libraries to the
DVi1000, through Viaccess' Early Release Scheme licensing program.
Viaccess' CA technology enables operators to provide subscription,
pay-per-view and selective viewing services, and can be adapted to meet
new customer needs in line with changing commercial strategies.
"We are pleased to work with Motorola Broadband to deliver more
choice to
operators throughout China, Eastern Europe, France, the Middle East, and
Nordic regions. Cable operators will soon be able to deploy set-top boxes
from the world's leading manufacturer, with Viaccess CA technology
embedded,"
said Michel Degland, Viaccess executive vice president, cards and terminal
software.
"This agreement is a key step towards giving cable and satellite
operators
the freedom and ability to utilize Motorola's broad range of digital
set-top
solutions using Viaccess conditional access technology," said Paul
King,
Motorola vice president and general manager, Europe, Middle East, and
Africa
(EMEA). "The integration of Viaccess underscores the flexibility of
our DVi
platform to support multiple applications and CA technologies."
