Opera Telecom Deploys Telsis
Programmable Switches
Opera Telecom has deployed
additional programmable switches from
Telsis to support its business expansion in the UK and Ireland. The
operator launched in November 2000 with a Telsis Ocean fastSSP switch and
fastSCP service control point at its Birmingham operations centre. Opera
Telecom has now invested in further Ocean fastSSPs from Telsis’
small-footprint, high-performance, carrier-grade technology portfolio for
its new switching centres in London and Dublin.
Headquartered in Birmingham, Opera Telecom is one of the fastest
growing and most profitable providers of premium SMS services worldwide.
It also offers a full range of telecom service facilities including
international switching, IVR application hosting, Web development, unified
messaging, ISP and WAP infrastructure as well as global billing.
Opera Telecom also provides services direct to some of the world's leading
portals, national broadcasters, national and regional publishers,
international carriers, network operators and independent
telecommunication companies. Customers include GMTV, BT, MSN, EMAP, Eircom
and ITV.
With its headquarters, research and production site in the UK, Telsis has
sales and support operations in France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands,
Spain, Singapore and Australia. The company offers a range of
carrier-grade infrastructure platforms, including intelligent SMS Routers,
IN service control points, switches and advanced IVR solutions that
support a wide variety of innovative value-added text and voice services.
Telsis products are in use with major fixed and mobile network operators
around the world.
Opera Telecom’s managing director, Gary Corbett, said, "The Telsis
platform is remarkably flexible and robust and lets us create and launch
new mobile services quickly and cost-effectively, in order to support the
evolving requirements of our customers.”
