IPWireless Technology Is The Foundation Of 3G
Wireless Broadband Roll-Out In Rural Montana
Teewinot Wireless Data, IPWireless,
and Internet Connect Services (ICS) announced the launch of their
commercially available 3G wireless broadband service offerings in North
America.
Teewinot's new, state-of-the-industry network provides convenient and
cost-effective high-speed Internet solutions to businesses and home
offices throughout the greater Missoula, Montana area. The Teewinot
Wireless Data network utilizes privately licensed MMDS frequencies and
third generation network technology developed by IPWireless, Inc.
Customers throughout greater Missoula are able to connect to the
Internet over secure, wireless links using the IPWireless pocket-sized,
portable modem with an integrated antenna. The plug-and-play portable
modem can be used with a single PC, or can provide high-speed service to
several computers within an office or home, when connected to a standard
router.
Because the solution is wireless, it is not limited to specific areas
where copper lines or fiber optic cable is in place, which is the case
with DSL, dedicated access, and cable modem service. The IPWireless
pocket-sized, 3G modem works even when there is no clear line-of-sight to
the Teewinot cell towers, unlike other wireless technologies where
performance can be inhibited by buildings and trees.
"Montana takes great pride in being the first state with this
advanced technology available," said Senator Conrad Burns of Montana.
"Rural states like Montana need to have access like this to ensure
their inclusion in the rapidly expanding information age. Providing that
technological access to rural areas is a key goal for me, and companies
such as Teewinot Wireless Data and Internet Connect Services of Missoula
are a fine example of that high-speed access coming to rural customers. A
solid technological infrastructure such as this is part of the foundation
needed for small business growth in our communities."
"We are thrilled to deploy this revolutionary network in
Missoula," said Teewinot Wireless Data CEO and founder Gene Twiner.
"The demand for affordable high-speed Internet access here far
exceeds the services available. With IPWireless and ICS, we are providing
a cost-effective solution to many enterprises and residential customers
which, until now, have had few or no options for high-speed
connectivity."
"We are delighted to work with a service provider who shares our
vision of delivering the most simple and convenient wireless broadband to
businesses and consumers," said Chris Gilbert, CEO, IPWireless.
"This announcement validates IPWireless' commitment to making mobile
broadband accessible to everyone, everywhere, including rural areas."
"We are excited to offer LightningLine Wireless services built on
the Teewinot network," said Internet Connect Services (ICS) President
Jeff Smith. "With speeds from five to 20 times faster than dial-up,
we are confident that we have a package to fit every business need."
ICS offers the high-speed wireless access bundled with a full suite of
business services, including email, Web site hosting, dial-up service for
travel access, and more.
