EPOS, a company that develops advanced digital positioning technology for the consumer electronics market has announced the availability of its low-cost, multi-purpose Wired Digital Pen for use with the second generation Intel ( News - Alert)-powered classmate PC.
The classmate PC is a mobile personal learning device, uniquely designed to enhance the educational experience of students and teachers, particularly in the K-12 segment. The EPOS Wired Digital Pen is a low-cost and durable and accurate school PC peripheral, vital for enhancing educational experience.
The device enables the students write freely on any paper while their handwritten notes appear on the computer screen in one simultaneous interactive experience, blending the traditional lesson formats of simple pen and paper with the latest technology.
Using the EPOS Wired Digital Pen, children can practice their handwriting skills digitally, draw math problems and shapes, learn software applications, personalize instant messages and e-mails and share handwritten drawings and notes with classmates and teachers.
The pen is a wired device and works only when connected to the computer so that teachers and students do not have to worry about the pen getting lost. The pen does not require batteries, enabling unlimited hours of writing for even the keenest of scribblers.
The device can help teachers in a variety of education applications such as taking attendance, capturing information directly on a PC to send to administrators in real-time, grading tests faster than traditional methods and demonstrating lessons digitally.
Apart from this device, EPOS has also launched a second product offering called the EPOS Wired Pen & Mouse. This device also works as a mouse in addition to the same great benefits as the traditional wired pen.
Integrating these devices with Windows Vista, the users are also able to benefit from features such as personal note taking, email signing and pen flick navigation, turning their laptops into Tablet PCs.
EPOS also participates in the Intel-powered classmate PC Ecosystem Vendor Alliance. The alliance includes hardware and software vendors, Internet service providers and content developers who aim at building a comprehensive education infrastructure for teachers and students to benefit from technology in teaching and learning.
